Cats skin problems?

My cat has been diagnosed with skin disease. She spent the last weeks scratching behind her ear...

She was given the fermicidal gel last week - from the vets. She also has a elizabethan collar and is on a course of anti-biotics and steroids.

I have had this gel for four days - and I have only managed to apply it to the area once (suppossed to be twice a day). I cannot take the collar off because she will do some serious damage to the area..(the area is under the collar)..

To apply gel - I must approach her with the glove (must wear glove to apply gel) and she freaks and runs away, I cannot get in behind her ears with it, as cat cowers into the collar..

So I am unable to treat cat and am getting very worried.

I had the cat off cat protection two years ago, and I love the thing, but cat protection told me her skin complaint had been treated..The cat was very nervous and has taken two years iof fussing to behave normally, but now this has sent her straight back..

Any tips
Cats skin problems?
i acquired a kitten about 15 years ago, she had abandoned in the monastery courtyard,, sever burns to her face, and every winter she breaks out in a mysterious rash..... by springtime she gets clear, and she's still with us! just ask the vet for ear mite stuff, and the frontline. you can do it at home. believe me, cats are strong!

You should get somebody to help you get the medicine applied. You got to do it or ,this may relapse.Get a old blanket and slowly cover it with it. Wait until it calms down enough to apply the medicine.
Reply:Sorry, but the only thing I can think of is to have someone hold her while you're applying the gel. Maybe you could call your vet and ask for suggestions too.
Reply:What I do is that I either get someone to help me hold her or i just do it my self. I actually and this might sound bad but I sit on my cat while I apply the medication. I don't completely sit on her but more of hold her down with my weight and legs. A little of discomfort for her/him won't hurt him.
Reply:I have a cat that's allergic to fleas, she was also a rescue and took years to calm down. when she gets fleas it makes her really upset and you can't touch her. The vet has now prescribed hormone tablets for her which calm her down a huge amount. She's like a different cat when she's taking them. Maybe you should ask your vet about something similar.
Reply:my cat is like that what i do is get prawns or crab sticks and fed him slowly and strock him slowly put some cream on your hand u can always wash your hands atfer as u feed him slowly put the cream on it he will not notice
