Fair skin /Dark skin ?

Why are some people's skin colour dark and and some others' fair? Plz let me know friends plz.
Fair skin /Dark skin ?
The pigmentation in the skin is different with each person. Some people have a lot of pigmentation (black people) and some have very little (white people).
Fair skin /Dark skin ?
The fair skinned people usually lived in areas that the sun wasen't there much. There skin didn't produce that much melanin because they didn't need much protection from the sun. The darker skinned people usually lived in areas where the sun was present alot so there skin produced more melanin(causes skin color) to protect them from the sun. So it all depends from where the person originated.

edit: nope i've learned this stuff many times

and its adaptation and evolution and a VERY long time that made them this color not a 20 minute tan
Reply:Maneenee is wrong. A people's place of birth or origin is not a factor here. I have friends from Germany who are black-skinned and from other lands where black skin is a rarity.

It is true that the reason for the tone is melanin which determines a person's pigmentation or skin-colour.

If the sun had anything to do with it, all fair-skinned people who burned their bodies to a crisp hoping to become tanned or dark-skinned would never have to do it twice. They also risk causing themselves skin cancer.
