Does skin ever get used to Hair removal lotion products ever, so skin doesnt get irratated?

Found out that hair remover lotions do work but does skin always get irratated or eventually will it get used to the chemicals the more you use it??
Does skin ever get used to Hair removal lotion products ever, so skin doesnt get irratated?
The upper layer of the epidermis (the outer layer of skin) is renewed aproximately every 28 days - so, sorry, your skin can麓t grow "used" to any product you apply.

Hair removal lotion penetrates into the hair follicle to chemically dissolve the hair, therfore you can expect some minor irritation. You can easy this irritation by locally applying cold (i.e. a small towel soaked in cold water, or even in cold chamomile tea- that would be the best)

Don麓t use a product if there is a persisting irritation or a rash as you may be experiencing an allergic reaction.

I have good skin.. but lately i've been breaking out.. what do i do?

I always get compliments on my skin.. but lately i've been breaking out like crazy. I really dont kno what to do so i've been using clean and clear acetone. Also i just started birth control so i'm not sure if that is effecting it. but whatever it is .. i need help taking care of my skin.. and there are way too many products to know exactly what i should be doing. Can you help me with a list of products to use everyday to keep my skin clear and healthy! thanks
I have good skin.. but lately i've been breaking out.. what do i do?
I use Arbonne Intelligence Not-So-Basic Skincare. They have a pack and it WORKS! It has:

Cleanser: It washes the dead skin cells out of your face that clog pores to make blackheads/pimples.

Toner: It might hurt when you put it on, but it just cleans off the extra cleanser that you put on.

Moisturizer: It is the most important part, never skip it. You just apply it on and don't take it off.

It also has under eye cream, and a Face Masque.

I also suggest you buy a Hydroxy Face Masque, to clean off any extra dirt.

Hope I Helped :]

Edit: Honey works good too.
I have good skin.. but lately i've been breaking out.. what do i do?
get a skin transplant and drink lots of alcohol
Reply:i have the same problem with BCP....im actually thinking about stopping it after 4 years because of the pimples..they are so annoying....not alot helps mine. ive started washing my face only once a day instead of twice which helps. i alternate between neutrogena oil free acne wash one day (this stuff REALLY helps! its orange in color . i use the pump thing) and the next day i use antibasterial hand soap. thats my evening routine. i always follow with clean and clear moisturizer. in the morning i rinse with warm water first, then cold to close pores and follow with the same moisturizer. its important to moisturize your face. if you dry out the skin too much, the face with over compensate by producing more oil...causing an even oilier complexion and more breakouts...
Reply:What about diet? If you do not maintain a healthy diet this can have adverse affects on skin. Also, have you changed laundry detergents or soaps or shampoo latley. Try to think of what you are doing differently now than when your skin was blem free.

I will say that Acetone is not the best for your skin - it will peel the dead cells off, but it can also kill good ones in the process. If it is facial, and related to dry skin try olive oil. If it is facial and related to oily skin try corn starch - pat it on like a powder, then with a warm wet washcloth wash it off. The corn starch will absorb excess oils which can cause you skin to break out.
Reply:Best to consult a doc.
Reply:As far as I know, birth control pills usually help with acne. Talk to your doctor, who may suggest a change in the brand of BCP. The changes in your skin may be just a coincidence, and the acne may be related to hormonal changes in your body that were going to happen anyway (I don't know your age).

Regarding skin care, I have formulated a salicylic wash and a clenaser, and both of them should help. If that is not enough, try our acne kit.

Below is a guide a wrote about acne. I hope you will find it useful.

Acne is a very common skin disorder in the USA. It affects about 85% of adolescents, and comedos, an early stage of acne that may or may not develop into acne, affects practically all teenagers. Getting older is not a guarantee either: the number of older people suffering from acne is increasing, affecting 8% of 25-34 year-olds and 3% of 35-44 year-old. This means that acne is normal, at least at some stage in our lives, but this does not make it any less painful and it is important to know that acne can be controlled and how.

What is acne?

Acne is a disease of the follicles, the pore where the hair is formed and sebum is secreted. Keratinocytes, which would normally be "shed", accumulate and plug the pore with the sebum acting as glue, and the result is a a microcomedo. Continued accumulation of materials will distend the pore, forming an open comedo, a blackhead. Oxidized lipids and melanin give blackheads their color.

Inside the comedo there is little oxygen and lots of sebum, an ideal medium for the acne bacterium, Propionibacterium acnes, to grow and multiply. The activity of the bacteria leads in turn to inflammation and irritation.

Cysts can develop when the contents of the sick follicle (keratinocytes, sebum and bacteria) spills into the surrounding dermis, producing a pustule (superficial), or, deeper papule or nodule.

What can we do?

First, remember that acne is not a trivial matter. Besides the psychological suffering, acne can leave scars, keloids andchanges in pigmentation, so it is important to control acne before it leads to permanent changes in the skin. Second, serious acne should be taken seriously and this means visiting your M.D. Some genetic problems show themselves as acne, and only tests ordered by your doctor can tell you whether your acne is “normal”, i.e. caused by the hormonal turmoil of adolescence or the menstrual cycle, or whether it is a symptom of polycystic ovarian syndrome or other health problems that cause an excess in the production of male hormones by the young woman.

To control acne:

1) Keep sebum secretion under control using sea kelp bioferment, niacinamide and EGCG from green tea.

2) Normalize keratinization and prevent the exfoliated keratinocytes from sticking together, closing the pore. Go for white willow bark extract, which will also reduce inflammation. Other helpful actives are sulfur, retinyl acetate (or other retinoids). Chemical peels will also help but make sure that the glycolic and other acids are not neutralized using bases like sodium hydroxide, a common ploy used to impress consumers with high concentrations of acid that will do nothing because they have been converted into (useless) salts.

3) Decrease inflammation with actives like white liquorice extract. Avoid steroids, anti-inflammatories that everybody likes because they are so fast. With prolonged use they may cause skin atrophy and steroid acne.

4) Kill acne bacteria: tea tree oil, Coleus essential oil. Propolis should also work but many of our clients do not like the smell. Avoid benzoyl peroxide, which will kill bacteria but will also age your skin and increase the probability of skin cancer.

5) For men and women: inhibit the activity of the enzyme 5-alpha reductase using saw palmetto and wild yam extracts, this active will reduce skin androgens, reducing the frequency of acne lesions.

What NOT to do

Don't use benzoyl peroxide. This chemical is a strong oxidant, and the idea is to use it to kill the acne bacteria. The problem is, you are killing your own cells too. There must have been a time when benzoyl peroxide seemed like a good idea, but with what we have learnt about the effect of oxidant on cells, and how the are a major cause of skin aging, it is time to forget about it and go for more sophisticated tools. Sophisticated does not mean more expensive. Skin Actives Scientific is now selling a kit for under $30 that will help control sebum production (and sebum is the bacteria's favorite food!), skin renewal (so that pores are kept open and do not turn into comedos) plus anti-inflammatory actives.

So, before you go for benzoyl peroxide, think long-term and give your skin a chance.

Best way to get clear skin in two weeks?

I usually have very very clear skin year round, but I've been busy the past week and a half and have not been able to wash my face very often. My skin broke out and it isn't all that easy to get my skin back into shape once it has done this. I need clear skin for the first day of school. Help!
Best way to get clear skin in two weeks?
Here are some masks to help your acne in two weeks you should be fine

For acne

Carrot Top Facial Mask

(normal - oily skin)

By: Pioneer Thinking

The Ingredients The Instructions

2-3 large carrots

4 1/2 tablespoons honey

Cook carrots, then mash. Mix with honey. Apply gently to the skin, wait 10 minutes. Rinse off with cool water.

honey (1 tsp) with 1/2 (tsp) of cinnamon powder. Apply for 15 minutes. Due to the antiseptic properties, bacterial infections in the skin are treated. More home remedies available at http://www.wellnesstalk.org/acne.html......

A plain baking soda and water mask is by far the best you can do for acne prone skin. Mix a water and baking soda in a cup until the consistancy of a thinner paste. Pat on face (do not rub) and let sit till it hardens then rinse off. This has done miracles for my sensitive acne prone skin!! Plus it's all natural! Sometimes I add a few drops of tea tree oil too. Once or twice a week is plenty for this treatment.

Toothpaste

Apply a dab of toothpaste on your pimple before bed. This is useful for new pimples, especially big ones. Whenever I spot a new pimple, I try this. Usually the next morning, it will be dried out enough to pop on its own.

Lemon juice is effective in lightening the dark spots left by acne and pimples.

First, cleanse the scarred area with water. Soak up a teaspoon of lemon juice with a cotton ball and smooth it over the marks. Leave the juice in place for ten minutes, then rinse.

Be careful how often you use lemon juice: it can have the side effect of making your skin light sensitive. Make sure to cover treated areas with sunscreen before going outdoors.

The best treatment is prevention. You should try to prevent acne from ever forming. Below are some ways to reign in the red bumps:

1. Include green, leafy vegetables and fruits in your diet. Drink a lot of water to to regularly to flush out toxins, and don't forget to drink a glass before breakfast to flush out the stomach. Avoid deep-fried snacks.

2. Try to have at least one bowel movement per day.

3. Get to bed before 11pm. You have to give your body enough rest time or it won't heal. Don't snack before bed

4. Don't use a computer any longer than you need to, and keep your phone a distance from your bed. Theradiation both put out can have noticeable effects on your skin.

5. Change your bedsheets and pillow covers often. Those areas are like magnets for dead cells, dander, mites and dust - all of which can cause an acne breakut. Some skin experts even recommend changing pillow cases daily.

6. Resist the urge to pop your pimples. It can cause even more damage to the skin and worsen scarring. Resist the temptation!

7. If you get acne on your body, try not to wear tight clothes that will prevent your skin from breathing. You may want to avoid scarves, headbands and caps which can also collect dirt and oil.

Oily skin problems!!!?

Before I go to school, I put on sunscreen and than foundation and some concealer. Throughout the day, my face is shiny. I don't know if it's caused by the sunscreen or because of my oily skin type. It makes my skin look purple( I'm guessing with the foundation) and not right. Any help?!!
Oily skin problems!!!?
i suggest that you go on ebay and buy dermalogica dermal clay cleanser it works very well and will hekp your skin to be less oily
Oily skin problems!!!?
if you only get a blemish about once a week STOP using foundation and concealer. if you insist on wearing skin make-up make sure it is hypoallergenic and has NO ADDED OIL. people with oily skin try to wash there face more but that actually makes you produce MORE oil. so it's best to drink lots of water so your skin doesnt think it needs to make extra oil. wash your face with a GENTLE wash that removes oil. =) you can e-mail me if you have more questions.
Reply:Shiny skin is partly due to your oil glands naturally lubricating the skin on your face coupled with the ingredients found in the concealer plus the sunscreen and foundation.

The purple hue may, perhaps, be caused by so many reactions to your skin's chemistry that sets of the chemistry of the products applied to your skin. Of course, this is just my guess, and the first guess that comes to mind. Then again, it could just be pure common sense in that it is the actual hue of the concealer/foundation/sunscreen.

This is an awful lot of product (3 layers worth) on top of an already oily complexion.

I am 36. I have extremely oily skin and have suffered from acne all my life. I use no soap to wash my face, but I do use aloe vera gel straight from the leaf the night before and I wash/exfoliate the next morning with a wash cloth. I stopped using soap this year and my skin went from night to day! Stopping the soap was a miracle that I never expected to happen. I just was always irritated from every single brand of soap I was using all my life...even the soaps from the natural food stores without the perfumes!!! I just decided that I was going to experiment for a few days without soap and see what happened. Well, it's been a month, and no outbreaks of acne. No dry skin--always smooth and moist and hydrated. I look like I have a constant pregnant woman's glow. I used 100% raw Shea butter once in a blue moon only when the weather's too dry and I use aloe vera straight from the leaf, though mind you, not every night! To really, really exfoliate, I'll do my Dead Sea mud mask. What a miracle mask that is!!!

Sorry for my rant, but I thought I'd share my routine with you.BTW: I never, never, never wear makeup--and am dead set against the practice for my skin (though I am no activist in protesting it to other women, this is just my own personal practice).

Good luck and feel free to experiment!

Flaky skin?

i started using nutrogena oil free acne wash %26amp; nutrogena daily blackhead eliminating scrub %26amp; they work well but made my skin very flakey. i keep using lotions but the flakey skin persists please help
Flaky skin?
stop using them together - they are drying you out too much. stop them both for a day or two while you use a thick night cream... then them back into a routine, alternating days... but still using a cream to bring the moisture back.

Does skin become dependent on ProActiv?

I was wondering if once someone uses ProActiv skin system and sees good results if they are able to stop without the acne coming back. Is it a life long thing where they have to continue buying the product and using it their entire life?

I noticed my skin kind of has a dependency on Neutrogena from using it for two years. If I stop I start to feel I start to really feel it in less than 48 hours. This includes dry patches and redness. I would think that an expensive product like ProActiv would want to sell more and make people need more.
Does skin become dependent on ProActiv?
No! i used proactiv all during my pregnancy and i ran out towards the end and i havent but just started using it again because my face has gotten back to what it was before using it. Which has been like 6or7 months after using it last. Its so good the effects last a long time after using. It didnt get worse or anything just went back to the same acne i had before using Proactiv.

It prolly isnt a dependancy on the Neutrogena but the fact that your skin has so many factors that cause your acne but i do know what you mean i used Neutrogena before using proactiv and i would have to use it everyday to keep the results and if i forgot to wash one day i always could tell and when i use the ProActiv I see a major difference than with the other stuff.

Olive oil on skin?

I have used everything on my dry sensitive skin, and nothing works.....The only thing that gives it relief is olive oil (the kind you cook with) has anyone haerd of the side effects of using this type of olive oil on the skin? For example can it darken the skin?
Olive oil on skin?
Hi COurt

Oil can do a lot more than that. Read below

Here is an unusual but very effective method to heal many skin issues.

INTRODUCTION TO OIL PULLING ("OP")

REPORTED CURES WITH OIL PULLING:

Mouth %26amp; Gum Disease; Stiff Joints; Allergies; Asthma; Acne, High Blood Sugar; Constipation; Migraines; Bronchitis; Eczema; Heart, Kidney, Lung Diseases; Leukemia; Arthritis; Meningitis; Insomnia; Menopause (hormonal issues); Cancer; AIDS; Chronic Infections; Varicose Veins; High Blood Pressure; Diabetes; Polio; Cracked Heels,.

Here's are a few paragraphs from Bharat Savur's article on The Hindu Business Online

..."When Dr Karsch examined the swished milk-white oil under a microscope with 600 magnification, he saw live organisms swimming in it. It's poisonous, so never swallow it, he warns. These poisons are bacteria-embryos, which, if not eliminated, cause diseases. Apparently, Dr Karsch cured his own chronic blood disease and 15-year-old arthritis.

The first sign of improvement is in the teeth-they become firm and white, he says. Other healing indications: fresh, relaxed feeling on waking up, disappearing dark pouches below the eyes, anew appetite and energy, better memory and deep sleep.

Dr Karsch swears by the mouth oil-wash for anything from organ-disorders, skin-diseases, menstrual problems, paralysis to every ache and it is in the human anatomy. You can swish even when you have fever, he says, adding, it takes anything from two days to a year to cure a disease.

And if these claims sound exaggerated, he told a conference of Ukrainian cancer specialists, try out the process yourself.

Interestingly, Ayurveda advises oil swishing "to purify the taste-buds and the entire system", as explained by Dr Deepak Chopra in Perfect Health.

According to this life science, the tongue is mapped by organ-locations 鈥?that is, each section of the tongue is connected to the kidneys, lungs, spleen, liver, heart, pancreas, small intestines, stomach, colon, and spine.

Thus, an oil-mouth-massage soothes and stimulates the key meridians where taste meets organ. Simultaneously, as in any skin-massage, the inner skin and lining of the mouth, palate and tongue become warm and supple and the lubrication prevents dryness (the vatic effect).

In modern dietetics too, dryness is discussed.

For example, lack of Vitamin A (retinal) causes the outer lining of the eyeball to dry and wrinkle, and affects vision.

And as any dietician would tell you, all oils contain 960 micrograms of vitamin A per 10 gm (the recommended daily allowance of vitamin A per adult is 600 micrograms). So, it's possible that oil gargling helps in reaching the required retinal to the eyeballs and keeps them elastic and smooth.

Likewise, the Ayurvedic `purification of taste-buds' also has its equivalent in dietetics as `antioxidants'. Oxidation literally means `the putrefaction of body-tissues'.

And oil-soluble vitamins, A, C, D, and E are antioxidants that protect and prevent the decaying process and help maintain the integral functioning of cell membranes. That's why many people are ingesting vitamin E pills to stem `aging' (oxidation). "

Olive oil on skin?
Olive oil is an age old Mediterranean remedy. It won't darken the skin. The only way to do that is use something (chemical) that increases the tanin in your skin. The sun brings out this tanin, hence the sun "tan".

Didnt you ask this question and i got best anwer yesterday or the day before well here are some more tips i didnt put

Remedy 1: Vitamin E

Try applying vitamin E to the scarred area three to four times daily to help reduce its visibility. If you keep at it, you should see some results after one to two weeks. It takes a long time before you get really noticeable effects.

Remedy 2: Tomato

Placing slices of tomato on your skin can act as an astringent to break up oil, lift away dead skin and help prevent acne. The pulp of the tomato has the strongest astringent properties.

Remedy 3: Toothpaste

Apply a dab of toothpaste on your pimple before bed. This is useful for new pimples, especially big ones. Whenever I spot a new pimple, I try this. Usually the next morning, it will be dried out enough to pop on its own.

Remedy 4: Honey and pearl

A useful facial pack for acne is honey and pearl powder.

Apply a mask of it for 15 minutes. If you can keep doing it every week, your skin will become lighter and smoother.

Remedy 5: Lemons

Lemon juice is effective in lightening the dark spots left by acne and pimples.

First, cleanse the scarred area with water. Soak up a teaspoon of lemon juice with a cotton ball and smooth it over the marks. Leave the juice in place for ten minutes, then rinse.

Be careful how often you use lemon juice: it can have the side effect of making your skin light sensitive. Make sure to cover treated areas with sunscreen before going outdoors.

Remedy 6: Tea tree oil

Some medications made from natural ingredients, such as rosehip seed oil and tea tree oil, will not only help to heal scars, but also significantly work to prevent future scarring.

Remedy 7: Fruits

In addition to eating fresh fruits to supply your skin with collagen-building vitamin C, you can also smear them onto your face as an acidic exfoliant.

Puree a quarter cup of pineapple and smooth it onto your face. Leave it in place 10-15 minutes, then rinse.

Pineapple contains ascorbic acid which helps brighten the face and fade acne. Apple works similarly. Soak a slice of apple in hot water till soft, then apply it to any scarred areas. Leave it for 20 minutes, and then rinse.

Remedy 8: Leeks

Peel the membrane from white are of the leek while watching TV or resting. Place a peeling over scarred areas for ten minutes every day. You can secure it with a bandage to keep it from falling off. Keep this up for a few weeks and you'll see the color fade a lot.

Remedy 9: Ginger

After cleaning your skin, cut a few slices of fresh ginger and apply to the affected area for 20 minutes. You'd better do this laying down, otherwise the ginger may fall off. It might burn a little, but probably not too much. The ginger may leave behind a bit of redness after you removeit, but don't be too worried. Just wipe off and have a good rest. In the morning, the scar should become smooth, and will hopefully fade completely within two weeks.

Remedy 10: Granulated salt and sugar

Some netizens said granulated salt and sugar are useful. Personally, I prefer sugar. After washing your face, mix some sugar and water in your hand and rub your face for two minutes, then rinse.

Lastly, don' expect scars to vanish overnight. The ultimate remedy to remove acne scars is persistence. Be confident about yourself and believe you are beautiful, and be confident that others find you beautiful too .

Put honey on the infected area, it draws out bacteria and softens the zit. Leave it on for 5 minutes and rinse with warm water.

Mix 1/4 cup brown sugar with 3 tablespoons milk unti lthey form a paste. Rub the mixture gently on your face for 1 minute. Rinse well with warm water for clear skin ---%26gt; this is from a CosmoGirl! article for clear skin.

Moisturize your skin also. I would reccomend, even if you don't have that much money to buy a good moisturizer that is OIL FREE.

Or you can do a steam treatment

Boil a pot of water and remove it when it starts to steam and then put your face over it and keep it there for 10 minutes. Then wash your face. The steam will open your pores and then washing your face will get rid of bacteria and dirt.

Excess Skin on the breast/Implants-Lift?

My breasts are C (they have been since elementary school). I've had constant weight problems from being on steroids for asthma for three years. I gained 100 pounds. I've lost 30-35 so far. My breasts have always sagged from developing quickly but now they are sagging even worse as I loose weight. They're not going down in size. There's just more skin. I can probably pinch a good two inches of skin off each breast at least. I looked at breast lifts but the scarring isn't worth it in my opinion because I'd need the most extreme kind. Would it be a good idea for me to get breast implants and lift together? I though I'd go to a D/DD (I'm 5'8 so they wouldn't look big on me) I'm not doing this to have bigger breasts. I'd just like to have my breasts stand up more and look normal. Some said I should wait until I'm thirty but I see no good in that. Why would I go my whole young teenage and adult life never being able to show my body? Can you get breast implants @ 16 in NY/CA? Please post info
Excess Skin on the breast/Implants-Lift?
uhh you should probably ask a doctor, but i think you can get surgery in CA well, actually anywhere with a parent's permission, if you have moneymoneymoney.
Excess Skin on the breast/Implants-Lift?
#1 At your age, during your weight loss time, try doing upper body exercises. Your skin is young and though you can grab loose skin now it should firm back up.

#2 I am positive you need a parental consent for any procedures since your are not 18.
Reply:I work in surgery....and I do a lot of plastic surgery. I can tell you that the surgeon I work with will say to first give pec exercises 2 years before you determine that they wont work.

Next I can say that instead of implants go for a lift, the surgeon (if they are good) can get rid of excess fat without a lot of scarring.
Reply:Breast implant %26amp; lift surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her breast reduction, tummy tuck and facelift surgery in India by the company called Tour2india4health Consultants .The Price for the surgery she paid in India was very less. She paid 30% of the cost she was quoted in America.

Tour2india4health Consultants is very famous in India. They arrange cosmetic and plastic surgery for foreigners in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as the breast reduction, tummy tuck, facelift and other cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Fair skin.. I like fair skin but mine is like like ******* transparent.?

Its clean its just not like all one colour. Like the pores on my cheeks are red and my nose is light red, the skin on my cheekbones is perfect but under my eyes is blue. And my eye lids are like purple. Ahh im a rainbow face. Its not ugly tooo bad, but i dont like it.

Tanning?
Fair skin.. I like fair skin but mine is like like ******* transparent.?
Yeah, don't mess with it. I know everyone wants something different but your skin is no doubt pretty sensitive so you are at greater risk than others for messing it up. Try Hylexin for the undereye circles... other than that, leave it alone.
Fair skin.. I like fair skin but mine is like like ******* transparent.?
Tanning would make it worse. Get something to even out your tones.
Reply:NO tanning!

it will ruin your beautful paleness.

stick with paleness,

use a vitamin k cream for blotchy skin

and then apply some foundation to even it out.

My skin feels dull?

i have pimples n marks on my face, which makes my skin look dull dry n rough. is there any way to get rid of after pimple marks 2 make my skin look smooth.
My skin feels dull?
exfoliate every other day.
My skin feels dull?
Good luck.. I am 25 and have had 'dull' skin all my life. Scrubbing is a good way to keep it clean. I scrub at least once a day. Invest in a good makeup.
Reply:Get some skin polisher, those are products w/ sugar or salt granules and you can use them all over your body when bathing to help slough of dead skin. Scars are considered to be dead skin cells. Be sure to moisturize all year round, this also helps scars fade.

There is a product out called Biotin oil that is recommended and is supposed to rid your skin of stretch marks and other scars. I use it myself.

As for the acne scarring you may want to try using scrubs to once again get rid of old skin cells, which can cause a look of dullness. (I haven't had any acne scarring but it all comes down to the dead skin layers.)

If the acne scarring is really bad, you may want to consult a dermatologist.
Reply:Exfoliate. There are lots of gentle products at the drugstore to use to manually exfoliate one a week. I'd also use a daily oil-free creme with a mild acid in it to keep it looking smoother and brighter.

Our skin cells naturally die every 4 weeks, the dead ones mostly just fall off as the new one rise to the surface. It's a good idea to gently exfoliate all the time to keep you skin looking fresh and healthy. Don't over due it!

Reply:Hi Salli,

Do u still have pimples on your face? If you do have don't scrub too often. Use it twice a week. Cos the scrub will cause the pimple to breakout and the dirty thing will spread other place on your face.

Can i know that is your face sensitive? I f not i can recommend you to use can use whitening cleanser, toner, and moisturiser. Best if you can use the brand of Artristry - Pure White.

Reply:You can use many products in your own kitchen that are natural and safe to use. Some of them include eggs, honey, oatmeal, extra virgin oil, lemons, etc. But here is a really good (and inexpensive) remedy you may want to try:

Take a whisked egg white and rub it over your face. You can leave it on for 15 minutes or sleep with it on. I recommend sleeping with it because the results are so much better! In the morning do your normal clease, tone, and moisturize! The egg white tightens your skin and leaves your skin soft and smooth. This isn't going to happen overnight (would be great if it did!) but you will definitely see results if you are consistent! If you have acne scars/blemishes use 100% cocoa butter or Vitamin E oil to "fade" away the scars.

***Also, remember to:

*Drink plenty of water!

*Keep your hands out of your face!

*Cut back on sugary, greasy, and fatty foods as well as sodas!

*Leave your pimples alone! Do not pop, poke, or pinch them...it's better to leave them alone and let them go away on their own than to wake up with an acne scar/blemish.

*Cleanse, tone, and moisturize your face at least 2 times a day.

*Stay stress-free!

***HOPE THIS HELPS!***

Dry skin with acne and Bare Minerals?

I have acne and want to buy bare minerals, but which products should I purchase that would do a good job in covering up my acne? Also, since it supposedly says that it helps out your skin, would it also help out my dry acne-prone skin?
Dry skin with acne and Bare Minerals?
to help your skin try this it helps a lot!

Dry skin with acne and Bare Minerals?
make sure you buy the starter kit for your skin tone, and also by the concealer, called well rested. the concealer brush comes in the starter kit. to help out your dry acne-prone skin you should use a moisturizer that is designed for acne prone skin. try something by neutrogena, or clinique.
Reply:I had acne, dont wear tons of makeup its harder for your pours to clean out. I went to the docters and they can give you medicin which just cleared it up. I would try that!
Reply:Hi Rita,

For a lot of people Bare Minerals works, but for myself and quite a few people I work with, not so good. Brands like Bare Minerals and Sheer Cover contain an ingredient: bismuth oxychloride that can further irritate your skin. I found that it left me oily throughout the day as well.

My suggestion, find a mineral based make up free of preservatives and harsh ingredients. I have heard KLS Minerals and Raw Minerals make excellent products, but I have been a devotee to Everyday Minerals because they are not as pricey.

To cover post acne spots (hyper pigmentation) know that it's not going happen over night. When you go outside, make sure you wear an SPF to help cell regeneration and block free radicals. You can use a basic cover up that is wax based, but at nights dab a bit of Vitamin E on the spot only, as it tends to be very sticky.

Hope that helps!!!!
Reply:I am a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant and I recommend using MK products!! MK has a Skin Care Line for Acne prone skin as well as Mineral powder! So you will get BOTH benefits! Yes "natural minerals" are better for you and your skin. You need to TREAT the problem not just try to "cover it". To have a great "look" you have to have GREAT Skin!! I'd be happy to help!
Reply:Bare minerals, or any mineral make up for that matter, doesn't do well with dry skin.

I ordered Bare Minerals a couple of years ago, had dry skin...and a couple of pimples and some little scars that I wanted to cover. It didn't cover anything...and made my skin look ever dryer than it was.

Right now I use ERA's spray on foundation. I don't have dry skin as much anymore, but being that it's winter...my face is dry, but this foundation is perfect for dry, acne prone skin.

I've been using it for a few months now. But it covers EVERYTHING (without the need of concealer)...feels nice on the face, and doesn't make my skin look dry at all (just nice, and dewy). On top of all that let me show you one of the benefits they have listed on their website:

ERA庐 FACE not only looks good on the skin, but IS good for the skin. Its unique formulation provides vital moisture without clogging pores. Botanicals, Aloe Vera and Chamomile soothe and promote healing by allowing skin to breathe. Antioxidant Vitamins C %26amp; E nourish and fortify skin.

If you do order this, they recommend spraying it onto your face (like airbrushing) but I recommend spraying it onto a make up sponge (you still get airbrushed looking results) and "stipple" it onto your skin. You can make it as sheer or as opaque as you'd like.

It's about the cost of a Bare Minerals kit, but lasts a whole lot longer, and works a whole lot better.
Reply:I would stay away from Bare Minerals if you have acne. The bismuth in the ingredients might very well irritate your acne as it has for so many. You should stay with a natural oil free mineral makeup that can actually heal your acne issues.

I have been using kms mineral essentials and I can't believe how amazing it is. I have blemish issues once a month and my makeup has helped it to clear. It also costs a lot less than bare minerals.

I have dry skin too. As long as I remember to moisturize before putting on my makeup, my skin doesn't feel dry.

Reply:If you have acne bare minerals will do nothing to cover I spend $200.00 on bare minerals and I feel like I wasted my money for $3.96 I ordered a free trial of everyday minerals which I love and my skin is already improving. I then turned around and purchased the product for $60.00 I got everything I needed and I am very happy with all of the products including there brushes. I went to a dermatologist and he recommeded dove bar soap and I found a great skin perfecting cream from Murad. He also gave me medicine which has really helped!!!!!!!!

Is this a skin infection?

I had a small area of skin that previously had cellulitis. That infection healed after anti-biotics and the doctor confirmed it cleared. That was about a month ago. However, about 3 days ago i ended up getting a very small scratch in that same area. It was not deep at all, in fact it looks like only a few layers of skin were broken but did go deep enough to draw blood originally but no longer bleeding nor does there appear to be any scab. There is no strange discoloration other than what was left with the cellulitis. There is very little, almost no new inflammation, but the actual scratch is draining small amounts of fluid.

Is this a new infection? Or this area of the skin just still overreacting to the previous infection?
Is this a skin infection?
it could be a new infection, better go to the doctor to check it
Is this a skin infection?
Usually you can tell if there is an infection if the area is red, and painful.

If the fluid coming out is clear, then you are fine. But if it starts to turn white, or another colour, it is infetced.

Keep the area clean and dry, and if it doesn't heal within a few days, see your Dr. again.

A cream from the drug store may help , ask the Pharmacist for a salve for cuts ect.
Reply:if the area around the scratch turns red or is painful to touch then go to the doctor because it is infected.
Reply:Hmm... kind of odd. Draining is a sign of infection but kind of strange that there is almost no inflammation. If there is also no pain, I would kind of go against the idea that it is infected. The body sometimes drains fluid as a precaution during the healing process to clean the wound or immediately after the infection. This happens very often after popping a pimple for example. However it also leaves open a door for bacteria to invade.

It is possible you may have a very minor new infection involving the the very top layer of the skin. In that case it is unlikely to cause pain or inflammation, but the body may still be fighting it.

If that is the case it shouldn't be much of a problem anyway. Best thing to do is keep the area very clean, give it air when possible, and try not to irritate it. Let the body heal the wound. You can also try giving some heat and some neosporin. It should go away by itself in 1-2 weeks.

It has only been three days right now so that isnt close to enough time to heal. Id give it at least a week and if it doesnt look better or if it looks worse, then ask a doctor.
Reply:It sounds like what you are saying is an area where you had cellulitis that has not quite healed yet has received a new scratch. I would keep a close eye on it and put on topical antibitic ointment. If it looks red or gets warm have it checked out.

The best moisturizer for Dry skin .?

then try some of their regular lotion .. its in the purple bottle.

you can find them both at walmart, walgreens, target, cvs, and any grocery store.

hope this helps. =]
Reply:Try Palmers--any of them. I had really dry skin too and Palmers is one of the only things that works for me. Oh, and Johnsons soothing naturals intense moisture creme works really well for all over. It cures your dry skin but isnt sticky and greasy. It smells really good too and makes your skin super smooth.

Reply:My skin is sometimes a bit dry, i use Johnsons baby oil after I've had a shower and it really makes a difference.
Reply:Check the label no mineral oils in creams they dry skin not help it. I use any product from Arbonne I find their Intelligence body cream is best -

I also use the re9 regime on my face (it's never been better)

baby oil does not help your skin it's pure distilled petroleum = cheap and hardens.. (I used to use it too until I studied skin care and what products use)

Use nutragena acne wash for your back with a lufa on a stick.
Reply:Try Cetaphil cream -- cream, not the lotion. This is a super-favorite of dermatologists. If it works for you, you can buy a tub of it cheap at the drugstore. To try it, they have a tube smaller size (I don't mean a sample size). Once your legs and body are less dry, it is probably easier to go to a lotion just because it slathers better. Jergens, Keri, there are tons of them. Personally, I'm a fan of the Trader Joe's unscented lotion for everyday. It goes on fast (no waiting in the morning), it is not sticky, and it is really cheap. For something more luxurious, my favorite is Archipelago Botanicals Yuzu Antioxidant Body Lotion. It is really rich and smells fantastic, but it is on the expensive side so you might want to find a tester somewhere to make sure that you love it.

Face is tricky and like you said it is different for everyone and your skin will change over time. Products that worked in the past can stop working for you. One key principle, however, is that even though you are dry, you still need to exfoliate. Your products can't work if all your dead skin is in the way. With dry skin, you need a gentle exfoliating solution. I use a glycolic product that I get at my dermatologist. These are pretty widely available. At first, it might seem a little harsh but you skin will adapt very quickly. Also, at first you can use it every other day, then once a day, etc. A very gentle exfoliant that I've also used over the years is Dermalogica's gentle exfoliating mask. You could try a soft wash cloth, too, but for me, that would be too harsh and the glycolic acid makes your skin look so good.

When you are not exfoliating, of course, you want something soothing and gentle -- not a soap. Look at milk-type products that you put on without wetting your face first. Sounds wierd if you haven't used them, but they clean with less drying. Kiehl's makes a nice one, but there are plenty out there. I also use the super-popular olive oil cleanser from DHC mail order. It is soothing to really dry skin, and I especially like it in the winter.

After the exfoliation or cleansing try the Cetaphil cream all over your face, eyes, neck.. everywhere. If you are really, really dry, you can check out serums too that you can layer with a moisturizer. I'm a big fan of BioElements Recovery Serum (if you are really dry). It is expensive ($60 for a little container), but it lasts and is magic and with all the money that you are saving on creams... If the Cetaphil, doesn't work for you, I've had success over the years with the Phytomer products too. Keep in mind, that you want to layer, layer, layer and this somehow keeps the moisture in. Everyday, I do Cetaphil and a Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer/sunscreen as a base. If I was going to be in a sunny area, I would also do a layer of a stronger sunscreen. If I was having dryness problems, I might go to the serum mentioned before or a primer (several companies make these) before the tinted moisturizer base. The layering works to keep the skin hydrated all day. Experiment. Good luck.
Reply:I have eczema, but not bad enough to have a prescription.

These are the creams and lotions I use and I think they work really well.

Body: Coco Balm

Hands: Nutrogena Hand Cream

Feet: Nutrogena Foot Cream

I'm going to try Nutrogena Body Lotion next time it's on a 3 for 2 sale... But based on their hand and foot cream, I would recommend this...

I find that coco balm makes my skin feel really soft and smooth, and it also evens out skin tone... As far as I am aware, Palmers make two different ones - a blue bottle and a white bottle... I hate the smell of the white bottle, but love the smell of the blue one.. They also do unfragranced.

Both Nutrogena and Palmers are good value for money.
Reply:When you take a bath put some baby oil in your bath water!
Reply:I use to have very dry skin, especially after i started shaving.

I also use Jergans ultra healing.

after i shower i apply Jergans ultra healing to lock in the moisture my skin just got after the shower.

It worked wonders on both of us.

Reply:I would say use olay in shower moisturizers, the purple one is probably the heaviest, the first time i showered with it i went without lotion for the whole day. the downside is a greasy shower after you use it. now i just use a lotion called Skin Milk from walmart or Walgreen's- it has deep moisture and i like the way it smells, like "clean baby" 鈾?br>Reply:put a little of destin not the baby destin the other in your lotion it works

Dry skin in winter?

Hi,

Why does the skin become dry in winter? What makes the skin dry and why winter?

Solutions offered to cure dry skin during winter

- By Andrea Holyfield/Staff Writer

As the holiday season approaches, many women will begin the not so jolly ritual of rushing to pharmacies and drug stores to find that magic cream to rid them of dry skin.

Dr. Eliot Mostow has been a pharmacist for eight years. He said that although dry winter skin is easy to treat, it is a very common problem.

"One reason people experience dry skin in the winter time is due to a constant change of environment," Mostow said. "We tend to go from a cold environment to warmer areas like homes and schools. This leads to the drying out and eventually cracking of skin."

But just as dry skin is a common problem, the solutions are also quite simple.

"The three things I tell people are: Use less soap, lower shower temperature, and put on a moisturizer," Mostow said.

"I haven't used soap for years. The only times I use soap are under my arms or in my groin area."

Mostow said if the skin is moderately dry, soap just dries it out more.

Lowering the shower temperature is another crucial step in avoiding dry skin. Mostow used the example of washing a skillet after frying an omelet, to demonstrate how water can affect the condition of one's skin.

"Imagine you have this skillet and you run it under cold water," Mostow said. "Most likely the grease won't budge. Now take this same skillet and run it under warm water you'll loose a little of the grease. But if you take that skillet and run it under hot water, you'll wash away any site of the grease especially if you're using a cleanser with it."

The most important step comes after the shower. Mostow said a moisturizer should be applied before the skin is completely dry.

"In terms of a moisturizer, something you scoop out of a jar is better than something you pump out of a bottle," Mostow said. "Lotion and things like that tend to be more watery."

Mostow said to look for a moisturizer that contains lactic acids or alpha-hydroxy acids. Another ingredient to look for is urea.

OR FOR A MORE SCIENTIFIC APPROACH:

Dry Skin in Winter

In fact, skin has to fight a daily battle against the drying effects of the environment.

But this drying effect is worse in the winter months. Although air in the winter months often feels damper, on average it has less relative humidity than in the summer - that is, humidity compared to that of the skin.

In winter the difference between the concentration of water in the air and that in the skin exerts a considerable drawing force on water in the skin. If dry skin becomes drier, the lipid structure of the barrier tends to break up. As a result, water cannot be retained so easily. The cycle of water loss is set up again.

In the winter months, air has less relative humidity and the skin tends to dry more rapidly. Another factor is that the stratum corneum simply doesn't like the cold. Cold makes keratin stiffer and less flexible - you will probably be familiar with the 'tight' feeling that skin has in the winter.

As a result of all these factors, skin tends to be drier and in worse condition in the winter months than at other times of the year. In extreme cases, this constant drying effect can lead to cracking, flaking and redness. In the winter, skin tends to lose the battle against the environment. That's when it needs to be looked after most.

In the winter, a moisturizer can be regarded as essential to maintain healthy skin - even so-called 'normal' skin. As we will see later, a moisturizer performs several important functions. It enables lost water to be replaced, and then helps to keep it in the skin by the humectants (water-binding agents) that it contains. One such is glycerol. Scientists have shown that humectants play a vital role in the skin by helping to maintain the lipids of the epidermis in good condition, vital to its water-retaining properties.

A good moisturizer will deliver water to the skin effectively and keep it in the skin for as long as possible.
Dry skin in winter?
The cold winter weather really causes your skin to get dried up, rough and cracked if you don't look after it.

Just use 2 or 3x more lotion in the winter then you would in the summer.
Reply:first, hot water strips skin oils, as does alkali soap. In winter people are tempted to stand for ages under a hot shower, thereby stripping the skin. blood circulation is less in the cold as well. treat from inside also: eat chocolate and nuts and fish in winter. Take a fish oil supplement. Moistursie with high lactate product the periphery; eg legs and feet.
Reply:There are multiple reasons as to why does this happen.

1. Winter weather automatically reduces your hydration level as you consume less water.

2. When the weather is cold, you are more likely to be under hot/warm showers which make the skin dry by sucking away the moisture/oil secreted by your oil glands.

Apart from the reasons above, one fact that most of us can't digest is that our diets are MESSED UP! No matter how much we deny, just look at the surveys. 70% or more americans either consume too less of the essential fatty acids or have a huge imbalance of omega-6 vs omega-3. They almost have no omega-3 in their diets.

Other reasons include any of the issues relating to your gut. Get your colon cleansed and see your skin issues fade away. But somehow, that also is related to fixing your diet first.

This article is a recommended read:

Reply:Dry skin is caused by the air molecule in the winter. There are less, and the skin needs oxygen to be healthy. If you are exposed to extreme cold and then directly into a warm house, you skin ges messed up. I recommend transitioning smoothly from outoors to indoors, and allowing yourself to sit in the heat for longer.

Sensitive skin (shaving, waxing)?

i'm having a very hard time with hair removal... my skin everywhere is extremely sensitive so not only can i not shave as often as i'd like, but when i do, i get a rash and ingrown hairs, no matter how much i exfoliate and take care of my skin.

also, when waxing, everything is fine for a week or two, but when the hair starts growing out it becomes incredibly itchy and sore and red, and i get a bunch of ingrowns as well.

is there any alternative apart from laser (too expensive) and creams (which don't work for me) that i can use? or perhaps even some tips that would make life a bit easier?

thanks a lot!

Have you tried shaving with the shower running on your legs or even underwater? My aunt has very sensitive skin and does this. She also says that when she usually leaves hair removel creams on for a little longer than usual( instead of 3 minutes 5 or 6) not for too long though or else your skin will turn red and painful

I dont know if it is the same but here is what i did:

moisturise day night and whenever you have free time, you cant over moisturise and even if it doesnt work, it will keep you looking younger for longer! (if you do it over a long period)

just try the moisturise and if that doesnt work after about 4 - 5 days then go to the chemist and ask them to reccommend something..

give it about 2 weeks (inclueding the moisturising time)

and then go to the doctors..(if the chemists prescription didnt work)

good luck though! x

My skin is both dry (almost to the point of feeling calloused) and has acne in the same places. I've tried several different things such as clean and clear and proactiv and nothing works. I've also tried putting toothpaste on it at night, using benzoyl perozide creams, and I use blotting pads.

You know, honestly... the best thing for you to do is get to a dermatologist. I think the longer you wait, the more damage you are doing to your skin. You will dry out your skin if you keep trying these products to the point where you will cause wrinkles. I am not sure how old you are but this might be hormonal. You can try drinking lots more water to clear out the toxins and to keep your skin hydrated. Sensitive skin tips?

anyone got any good tips for my skin....

its very sensitive and breaks out in spots pretty much when i use anything but baby wipes on it! (even sensitive skin lotions etc...)
Sensitive skin tips?
I have extremely sensitive skin, and have learned that when I'm in the shower, I cannot let any soap get on my face, but more importantly, I do not let any hot water get on my face either. It makes it ultra-sensitive if I do. I have to turn the water over to cold to wash my face and I only wash it with water. In fact, at the end of the shower, I use cold water to rinse all over to keep from breaking out.

I don't use any creams or lotions on my face either, and use hypo-allergenic makeup. I have to experiment with makeup that has moisturizer but most Almay products are pretty gentle.

Good luck.
Sensitive skin tips?
This is a very nice, simple, soothing, cooling and moisturizing mask that can be left on skin overnight: Mix a few drops of jojoba oil with a few teaspoons of pure aloe vera gel. It can look funny since the amount of the mask is quite big but don't worry. It will soak in very quickly and your skin will love it. Jojoba oil is anti-inflammatory and won't break you out since it's a liquid wax instead of an oil. It's very good for your skin just like aloe vera gel. They are a very effective and simple and therefore gentle combination. This is a natural mask and you don't have to worry about the bad ingredients in many commercial masks (preservatives, fragrances etc)

What can i do about skin problems? (dry skin, recurring boils, scabs that won't heal)?
I hate to scare you but that sounds almost like some nasty STD.

You REALLY need to see a doctor.
Reply:Recurring "boils" could be a sign of Hidradenitis Suppurativa. It is an autoimmune disease, which may account for the wounds that are not healing properly. Also, many HS sufferers have extremely dry skin too.

Usually HS lesions form in not-so-nice areas of the body (Armpits, groin, butt, stomach, under breasts), but there are many cases where they do appear on the face/head.

Loose skin and stretch marks when losing weight?

I heard that if you lose a lot of weight quickly, you can end up with loose skin. I know that this happens with obese people who lose weight via some surgery, but can this happen if a person of normal weight loses weight? I'm planning to lose about 40 pounds in the next four months, and I'm just shy of being overweight according to my BMI. I also heard I can get stretch marks if I lose weight. Is this true? Can I do anything to prevent myself from getting loose skin or stretch marks?

Thanks.
Loose skin and stretch marks when losing weight?
If you are 19 your skin still has a great deal of elasticity. Four months is a healthy period of time to work off the weight. You will be fine...Just work out.
Loose skin and stretch marks when losing weight?
From what I understand rapid weight gain is what causes stretch marks. Just from puberty and growing quickly I got stretch marks, not really from weight gain or loss...so it's different for everyone. Some people are more prone to stretch marks than others, I have no idea why...As for loose skin, you probably won't notice any lose skin because your still young and because you don't have much weight to lose, so I wouldn't worry about that.
Reply:Being 19, your skin is healthier and has more elasticity. So if you healthfully lose weight: No surgery, no dietary supplements (pills), and no quick fix weight loss; then you should not have flabby skin. It should stick to your body as you lose it. There are lotions that prevent stretch marks, but I've never heard of getting them losing weight.
Reply:it depends, like if u been overwieght for a long time ur skin might not shrink to normal, but i think 40 pounds in 4 months, u should be alright, just keep ur skin hydrated with lotions that will help, and stretch marks while losing wieght that wont happen, if u do get some loose skin u can get a thermage treatment, it will tigthen lose skin, hope this helps
Reply:Take preventive care. Massaging serves as an excellent home remedy for areas prone to stretch marks. You can either use olive oil, flaxseed oil, vitamin E oil or cod liver oil for the purpose of massage. Check out http://useinfo-stretchmarks.blogspot.com... for more useful info.
Reply:well im 20 and i got had gotten stretch marks on my sides from working out and growing.. I had like 3 lines on each side, i tried this revitol stretch cream it helped fade them! the cream also prevents stretch marks from comming also, so if u are worried they will come just apply the cream on the spots u dont want them - legs - back of arms - sides- and sides of breasts for women.. this review site has the top 3 stretch prevention products.. gl :)
Reply:Stretch marks only occur when a person gains more weight because the skin is being stretched out. Lose skins can be eliminated through rigid toning work outs, so you don't have to be afraid about. Eat anything in moderation and exercise a lot.

Sexiest skin?

How do you make your skin obviously glow with a minimal amount of fake tan??? What's your secret :)

How did you make your skin shiny and stand out? Any suggestions for a guy too?
Sexiest skin?
Dove (Energy Glow) and Aveeno (Positively Radiant) make body washes to give your skin a healthy glow (not a tan). They luminate the skin. They both also make luminating lotions. Aveeno has a Positively Radiant line for face care too. Look for products that say radiant glow or luminate the skin. Body oils would make your skin shiny and give it a healthy glow. Neutrogena makes a sesame oil which is a very light oil and not greasy. Men can and do use all of these products.
Sexiest skin?
-get a healthy amount of sun

-smile/laugh alot

-drink lots of water

-moisturize!!! (especially in the winter try tinted)
Reply:You dont want your skin to be TOO shiny because then it looks like your sweating or have oily skin but to just have it look nice use moisturizer, get a good base tan,and like the first girl said drink TONS of watr because that will give you the natural glow that you are talking about
Reply:Energy Glow by Dove is really nice... it gradually builds up a tan even if you're pastey. It's not orange either. Its about $6 at Walmart. Just for mosturizing I like just aloe gel (ocean potion, banana boat, etc) because it's simple: it's not perfumy and it's gentle. Plus, it's good for after-sun. It's about $6 at Walmart, too (and that's for the jumbo size lol)

Also, drink lots of water! It hydrates your skin.

Possible skin allergies in dogs?

My 2 y/o Jack Russell/Shih Tzu mix scratches, bites and licks at his back almost constantly to the point of having bald patches. There is no sign of him having any fleas and nothing has changed in the household. His diet consists of mainly Alpo canned which I have checked and it contains no red dye #40 which I have been told can cause skin problems in the shih tzu breed. Any suggestions of what may be causing his skin problem or what I can do to alleviate it or at least improve his condition.
Possible skin allergies in dogs?
if you are feeding fish to your dog then just stop it i am 100%sure fish causes skin problems
Possible skin allergies in dogs?
this is a situation that needs to be addressed by your vet....there are so many possibilities....

has the dog recently been vaccinated?

could still be a food allergy

do you use plastic dog dishes?

possible skin problem other than allergy

stress related etc

at any rate, your dog is uncomfortable and deserves to be seen and treated to feel better
Reply:My best guess is a food allergy, but you really want to consult a vet on this issue.

The red flag here is that you are feeding Alpo. Here are the ingredients:

http://forums.dogfoodproject.com/showfla...

Ground yellow corn, beef and bone meal, soybean meal, beef tallow (preserved with BHA), animal digest, salt, choline chloride, zinc sulfate, vitamin E supplement, ferrous sulfate, added color (red 40, yellow 5, blue 2), manganese sulfate, niacin, vitamin A supplement, calcium carbonate, brewers dried yeast, copper sulfate, calcium pantothenate, natural flavor, pyridoxine hydrochloride, vitamin B12 supplement, thiamine mononitrate, vitamin D3 supplement, riboflavin supplement, calcium iodate, menadione sodium bisulfite complex (source of vitamin K activity), folic acid, biotin, sodium selenite

Nearly all or ANY of these ingredients could be negatively affecting your dog. Corn, by-products, soy and so on can all create issues in your dog.

I would suggest you look in to something of a higher-quality. And yes, you CAN afford something better!!!

How about these:

Merrick

Innova

California Natural

Natural Balance

Heck, even Nature's Recipe might be best for your dog!

Please do some research in to dog food and the ingredients you should avoid. The best place to start is here:

www.dogfoodproject.com

Good luck!
Reply:A vet is the first place to start. Your dog might have something not able to be seen by the human eye. I just adopted a dog that has food allergies... yes, she is allergic to wheat! So she gets a wheat free diet. That also means no table scraps.. Not only that... she can not go running out in the woods... grass allergies. The worst yet... she is a hunting dog. Well, this is the reason she was dumped by the breeder to a kill shelter. So do your self and your pet a favor... take her to the vet.
Reply:Don't rule out fleas if you're not regularly treating with a veterinary flea treatment. Doing this is the only way you can be sure he doesn't have fleas, unless you know exactly how to check for them.

Beyond that, this could be mites, a hormonal imbalance or skin infection. It could still be allergies - these can develop spontaneously, even if nothing's changed.

You really need to get the dog checked by a vet to find out what's causing this. If you don't know what's wrong, you can't treat it of course - you can't just apply random treatment if you don't know what's wrong, it might make things worse. I'm afraid there's no way we could diagnose over the internet, even if we were vets.

Have you tried Nivea cream for men. It is very good for soothing itchiness. If you use an aftershave, you could have an allergy to it.

Dry skin and my problem?

My skin is too dry and I have itchy problem .

What should I do/ sometime I bleed.

Its really painful. When my skin will be Norman?

Honest ans please.
Dry skin and my problem?
Go see a doctor.
Dry skin and my problem?
Use a lotion called SKIN MD...You can get it at a local pharmacy. It will cure your problem in a month I promise. It's little expensive though...costs about 40 bucks for 20 oz bottle.
Reply:Go see a dermatologist (skin doctor)- your doc can refer you to someone. There are many products but you need to have it evaluated. It could be many things from exzema to scabies %26amp; you won't treat it right until it is diagnosed properly.

By the way, I think you mean "normal" not "norman". Norman is my cousin! ;)
Reply:if you do not go to the doctor, ask the pharmacist at a drug store what he would recommend. Now if what he recommends is too expensive. Then do like I did. Buy some baby oil with aloe. AFTER you shower and dry your face put on the baby oil to your face and rub it in. Also at night put some on you hands and again wipe you face with. This is the cheapest solution if you do not have money. Also buy a jar of moisturizer or face cream.

1 spoon Olive Oil

1 Spoon Avocado oil

1 spoon Almond oil

1 Spoon Til oil

Mix it and take two three drops in hand and message over skin. Its too good U would forget all lotions.
Reply:Many illness started with your diet. I suggest you take up the acid-alkaline diet.

I have skin problem on one foot. The skin start peeling. After I took up the diet, my skin got better and on the way to be healed completely.
Reply:go to a doctor or try over the counter creams your pharmacist will be able to advice you
Reply:basically just wash your skin and while it's still wet apply a moisturing lotion eg.aveeno. it helps at the same time it softens your skin. it really helps.!

Hard pimple under skin. Now looks like purple lump?

About a week ago I noticed I had a pimple under the skin on my upper thigh. It hadnt surfaced pr come to a head but was just sitting there under the skin. I stupidly thought if I massaged it and not squeezed, but put light pressure on it from underneath and the sides, I could "encourage" it to come to the surface. Well, it didnt. No its a purple, bruised looking lump about the size of a large blueberry or small raspberry under the skin. The color is uneven. Looks like its a mixture of pus color and purple.

And its a bit tender.

So...yeah how do I get out of that mess. Its hard for me to get to the doctor with my schedule. Im in a new job, dont want to take time out to go to the doctor all the time and I work in a rural area about 45 mins out of town with no doctors nearby. Its hard to get to the doc unless they have Saturday or 6pm appointments which are rare.

Using steam, herbs, home remedies, how can I deal with it? Even go to a local "Botanica" perhaps? Help? Its pretty ugly.
Hard pimple under skin. Now looks like purple lump?
Ibuprofen is only a mild anti-inflammatory, so some of the swelling of the cyst will go down when taking it. Otherwise, it's not gonna make the cyst any better.

My advice is just leave it alone, anything you do will irritate it, and make it hurt worse. If it's really large, try and see a doctor about it.
Hard pimple under skin. Now looks like purple lump?
It might also be an ingrown hair, I get em alot on my legs and they do look and feel like a pimple. Report It

Reply:Basically don't squeeze it if you don't wanna get it infected and a scar. If it doesn't dissapear itself after time, seek a doc, no matter what your job is.
Reply:answer: doctor!!!!! a.s.a.p

Is skin free of acne (for once) a pregnancy symptom?

Usually before periods I get one relatively atrocious pimple or two. This time there's not much to frown upon; in fact, my skin seems to be in pretty good shape...nice and supple. I know they say pregnant women usually have a pleasant glow about them...but isn't that usually later in the pregnancy? Also my *rack*, for lack of a better euphemism, isn't hurting like it usually does about this time. I am bitchy, though. Basically, I am just wondering if a) supple skin is an early pregnancy symptom, and b) if PMS symptoms can change from month to month.
Is skin free of acne (for once) a pregnancy symptom?
I would not go by your skins lack of blemishes to assume pregnancy. It could be a number of things from, unknowingly drinking more water, being better about washing your face, or it being colder outside, I wouldnt be worried or concerned unless you period doesnt make a scheduled appearance.
Is skin free of acne (for once) a pregnancy symptom?
it doesn't sound like it,but take a test.

Realistic skin tones?

i'm painting with acrylics and retarder - thin layers - but my skin tones are just dead. what is a good combination of colors and in what order, to get more luminous skin in my paintings? any thing will be helpful.
Realistic skin tones?
Don't waste your money buying ready-made, so-called flesh tints. Simply mix some white, yellow or golden ochre, and a strong red such as cadmium red. Keep the amount of red to a minimum to avoid going too pinkish. For darker tones, add some Payne's grey.

With acrylics always start with the light colours first, then fill in the shadows.

Hope this helps
Realistic skin tones?
red, blue, green

on your regular skin tone color
Reply:glad you enjoyed my "shaniqua question" =D
Reply:white skin tones have white, red %26amp; yellow

darker skin tones also have red or yellow tones
Reply:I know this is for acrylics, but I've seen and heard that alot of airbrush artists use their own variations of burnt or raw sienna to create flesh tones. I suppose that a bit of gamboge wouldn't hurt...it'll give it a sort of glow.
Reply:Check out my web site and see if yo like the flesh tones

http://www.piotrwolodkowicz.com.

The thing about flesh tones is that the light that a person is in and the relationship of the surrounding light to the person. I for basic skin tones use a lot of titanium white a little of yellow ochre and even less of cadium red light because any cadium is a strong color, for darks I useburned umber maybe paynes gray.

But you have to think about the warm and coolo colors like the blues in the shade and yellows in the sun , so make the sunny side yellow even going toward white and in the shadows add blue yellow ochre and burned umber.

The relationship is very important, practice and study of people from life not fotographs.

good luck

Dry skin or eczema?

For the past month or so (ever since it's been cold out and dry) my knuckles every so often get really dry, start burning and get really itchy sometimes and start to crack. The palms of my hands are almost ALWAYS dry so I do know what dry skin is, but i've never had my knuckles do this til this year. Is it dry skin, eczema, or a little bit of both?

And what can I do/use to help prevent it, or treat it?
Dry skin or eczema?
It can only be eczema if your doctor diagnoses it so if you want to be sure, it's best to go see one. If it's not, then it's just dry skin. A lot of people get severely dry skin during the winter because of the cold weather and hot showers. Make sure to moisturize the dry parts of your hand as often as possible. Also, if they bleed, make sure to use neosporin instead of lotion because that will help prevent infection.

Reply:its dry skin, at night put vaseline on, you can use hydrocortisone also, and put on cotton gloves EVERY night especialy weekends, during the day at work use hand lotion, Nivea is the best
