This year has been the worse for me also. I was itching all over like crazy, especially under my arms. What has worked for me after trying so many things is AVON SKIN SO SOFT OIL. After a shower and without putting on deodorant, I take a squeezed out wet wash cloth and pour the oil all over the cloth and I just freely put it under my arms first, cause that bothered me the most and then I rubbed that cloth all over my body, putting more oil on the cloth as needed and on the areas that itched the most.

What a blessed relief this has been for me. I itched so bad~~~~

I never did either until I became pre-menopausal .....

After pondering this now for a long time and not getting any rational feedback from physicians, I have come to the conclusion that our chemistry plays an active role in the skin-sensitivity/itchiness factor.
Reply:gold bond makes a good lotion that cools as u apply it yes dry skin can be caused by cold weather and also by too warm a bath don't dry off completly pat yourself dry and then apply a lotion or baby oil both work good before u dress. I've found anything with shea butter or cocoa butter works best u can get soap with it in them and also lotion i use the soap then the lotion lol it really helps.
Reply:girl,

i have to same problem yes it only happens at winter time for me the only thing that seems to work is dove winter body wash. so try it and good luck!!!!
Reply:winter will make your skin dryer than usuall so you can put some lotion on or change the soap you use
Reply:Cold and windy weather can definitely cause dry skin. I've noticed mine has gotten worse each year. Here is what I do, and it really works.

After I shower and turn off the water I put on baby oil and rub it in. Then I dry off (you want to put the oil on damp skin). Your skin will be moisturized and very soft.
Reply:Aveeno is very good. And it doesn't contain some of the heavy fragrances that are in many other lotions. It's simply just a good moisturizing lotion. In my opinion, it's the best I've used, and I've tried so many over the years! I too have dry, itchy, sensitive skin, and softening it is no easy task. But this seems to do the job.
Reply:I am dry-skin-itchy queen. I've tried many, many lotions and potions, cheap and expensive, and I have to say the most effective ones were the ones from the local drugstore. They are Curel Ultra Healing Moisturizing lotion and Aquaphor healing ointment. The Aquaphor is a bit geasy, but it will cure the dryness as soon as you use it.
Reply:This time of year is "Dry Skin Season". If you use regular soap that will dry your skin out, too. Try using an all natural soap.

You can bathe in Alveno also. I believe they have a soap.

Many think about drinking water only in the summer because it's hot, but you need to be drinking water all year round. Flushes out the impurities in your system.

Also, every time you bathe, make sure you use some kind of lotion on your skin. You'll feel a difference right away. Personally, I like using just a little baby oil.
Reply:I have dry skin in the winter. I use Eucerin cream. For really dry skin, buy it in the round container. You can buy it in a squeeze bottle but the round container is better for what you have. It is for sensitive skin.
Reply:Apply a good body lotion all over your body while it is still wet from the shower, then gently blot yourself dry. Do this every day. You might also go to your doctor and have your thyroid function checked, as low thyroid levels can also give a person dry skin, it can also cause your hair to fall out.
